• Espag window locking system

Espagnolette locking systems are the most common window locking mechanism for double glazed uPVC and aluminium windows. Recognised by their distinctive modern flat strip shape, as the key is turned it works in harmony with secure multi-point locks positioned around the frame to firmly lock and release the window with ease.

• Cockspur window locking system

Cockspur handles are more suited to traditional and heritage improvement projects, often where slimmer frames are required. Two pieces, rather than multi-point ready, its simple latch and catch design closes onto or into the latch and locks the handle in place.

• Monkey Tail & Pear Drop handles

As well as a choice of bespoke, dummy, and working butt hinges, Residence Collection windows can be enhanced further with classic 19th Century Regal Monkey Tail handles or heritage Pear Drop handles, available with locks or without locks depending on the project.

Our door hardware explained

• Multi-point door locks

Each door style we install is secured with quality hook multi-point locking mechanisms, robust hinges, and 3* cylinders as standard.

• Composite door security

Our 44mm GRP composite doors from Hallmark and Residor have the proven ability to achieve the industry-enhanced security standard Secured By Design & PAS 24 2016. Lightweight GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) is used for building and repairing boats, so it's an ideal material for solid external door replacements.

Our 48mm timber core ABS composite doors from Solidor are 10% thicker than the nearest competitor. Solidor composite doors can also accommodate the UK's more secure locking system - the Ultion Lock - which is capable of sensing an attack and preventing intruders from gaining entry by engaging an innnovative hidden lock within.

More window & door security terms explained

• Shootbolt locking

Shoot-bolt locking secures bifold door panels, sliding doors, and French doors firmly into place. Also used as a double glazed window lock, shoot bolts extend inwards or outwards at the top of the window and bolt it securely to the outer frame.

• Window restrictors

Window restrictors prevent windows from opening too far, protecting curious little ones from falling out and getting seriously injured. Allowing for partial opening allows for secure ventilation too.

• Internal glazing beads

All of our windows come with secure internal glazing beads as standard, to prevent opportunist burglars from lifting the glazing out and getting inside.
